Yeah, us programmers don't have the best imagination. For us everything is black and white.

Don't get me wrong, I do fully understand the meaning of having a good design and how pleasing colors will draw more users and having good "action statements" will make users click banners more, and when designing a banner or something, I know there are millions of ways to create them. And I do know that laying things out different ways will give different results. If you use frames, you will probably get crappy results because everyone hates frames.

All I am saying is that they can't tell me I ripped off someone's color scheme because someone already did theirs with a black background and white text, and they can't say I can't line my images up in four rows with the main pic in between or on top and bottom of the thumbs, becuase they did that first. I know there are a lot of different ways to create a TG, but if I sat down and thought of my best 10 ways of doing it, chances are pretty damn good that someone else has already used those 10 designs, maybe with different colors, but someone probably did that also.

I think what I am sayinng is there is a different between design and structure. Ripping off someone's design is wrong and I would never do that, but structure?? The way I line things up, arrange my thumbs, the number of thumbs I use, where I place my banners... I don't see how someone can say you can't do that because I did that. To me that is like saying you can't write your Hello World program becuase I already wrote my Hello World program and that would be stealing. (thought I would throw in some programming talk)

hehe yes of course, as you sad there is a difference between design and structure. I am talking about the design, the structure of placing is quite hard or impossible to make your own.

I think that if it is obvious that someone stole the idea it is wrong. Like having the same colors and identical text. But just having the same colors is a completely other story.

I think when comparing two galleries it becomes quite obvious that one is a copy of the other or not. Then actually proving who was first might not be as easy... Usually people will trust the bigger and more successful guy.

C'mon guys,

I have seen dozens of design thiefts who post everyday and they are accepted and original gallery creators are helpless.

But what may be even crazier I remember one guy who did this but apart from the gallery creator he was making no sales from the same gallery the first guy was getting dozens of SU.

I don't defend design thiefts I would be very angry too if somebody took my layout, but if you know that the layout works, take the IDEA and try it.

Not to forget, it is absolutely important to be listed in proper category to have the traffic filtered - if you have cheerleader sponsor on your page and The Hun lists you as "Babe posing" you'll get much less SU than being listed as "Cheerleader posing"
Filtering is also VERY important.
